Where: River Islands Technology Academy – 1175 Marina Drive, Lathrop, CA 95330

When: 4/8/17 R1 @ 9:00am Breakfast and Lunch will be sold on site.

What: Scholastic (K-12) 3 Round Quad - G/30

Cost: $0! This tournament is generously funded by

Dell’Osso Farms and the River Islands Development

 

Trophies are awarded to top player in each quad. All other players will receive pins for participating. First place in the Non-Rated Quads will also win a USCF Membership.

BRING CASH TO PURCHASE BREAKFAST AND LUNCH AT THE TOURNAMENT.

 

 

 

USCF Rated QUAD Format: All players must be USCF members. All players must understand USCF tournament rules. USCF Membership fee is $17, per year. QUAD Format - The players in each quad play a round robin, one game against each of the players in their section, for a total of three games each. Quads are by grade and experience. All quads will be Game in 30 min (each player). Sets and boards provided. Clocks will be provided, but players are encouraged to bring their own. For more on the blitz rules go HERE.

NON-Rated QUAD Format: Will be played just like the rated section, but a USCF rating is not required. The games will not be reported to the USCF and no rating will be issued.

Blitz Format: a 5 round tournament with each round played G/5 (each player). Each round will last only 10 minutes. The top player will get a trophy. For more on the blitz rules go HERE.

Puzzle Competition: Players will be given 30 minutes to complete a packet of chess puzzles. The player to get the most correct in the shortest amount of time will win a trophy.

 

*Round Times:

R 1 @ 9:00am R 2 @ 10:30 LUNCH R 3 @ 1:00pm

Blitz @ 2:30 & Puzzle @ 4:00

Breakfast will be served before R1. Trophies awarded at the conclusion of each quad.

Third Annual Mayor's Cup

The Third Annual Lathrop Mayor’s Cup Chess Tournament

The TCAMA is pleased to have a hometown Mayor that supports our goal of making chess an important cultural aspect of Lathrop. In honor of Mayor Sonny Dhaliwal’s commitment to chess, the Torres Chess & Music Academy will be hosting the Mayor’s Cup at River Islands Technology Academy. Mayor Sonny Dhaliwal will be in attendance, along with other local dignitaries, to hand out awards to all the participants at the end of the tournament. The Torres Chess and Music Academy believes in running chess tournaments that deliver educational experiences. In addition to awards for all participants, TCAMA coaches will be on hand to provide free expert analysis of chess games. It is our goal to have chess teams representing all of the schools in Lathrop at the second Mayor’s Cup chess tournament.

What: Scholastic (K-12) 5 Round Swiss - G/45

Cost: $25

Trophies are awarded to top 5 players in each section. All other players will receive ribbons for participating. The first place school team in each section will win a trophy.

Clocks will be provided, but players are encouraged to bring their own.

 

NON-Rated Swiss Format: Will be played just like the rated section, but a USCF rating is not required. The games will not be reported to the USCF and no rating will be issued.

Breakfast will be served before R1. Trophies and medals awarded at 5:45
